ROYAL COURT

I had the pleasure to visit the Royal Court warden controlled flats at Bickerton drive gwersyllt yesterday. It was the official opening by the Mayor Cllr George James of the building following the refurbishment. i was really impressed to see how the accommodation had changed and how some flats have been converted into accommodation for rest bite care and people coming out of hospital as a transitional care facility before going home.
I would like express my thanks to all the officers who worked so hard to make this a resource that the local authority and the health people can use for the benefit of our communities.
following that event i attended, a workshop where councillors were agreeing our priorities for the next year and providing care for older people in their homes was one that we have agreed for a few years however having visited Royal Court I felt that it should state that our priority should be amended to say PROVIDING CARE FOR OLDER PEOPLE IN A HOME OF THEIR CHOICE.

Energy Seminar report

The seminar that was held on saturday was a great success with over thirty people coming to hear our speakers. We had a speaker from the nuclear field who gave a very interesting talk on what nuclear could offer a balanced energy strategy, also we had a local member of the Wrexham TUC who explored the opportunities in renewable energy and how we should be supporting our local sharp factory in its production of solar panels.then finaly we had a trade union officer giving us a trade union view on the importance of ensuring there is sufficient energy availible at affordable prices to maintain our manufacturing and service industry jobs. we then had a question and answer session which raised several issues which our panel responded to .again it was a informative seminar that was enjoyed by all and our thanks to our speakers and the audience who came along to make it a success.

WREXHAM FIRE FIGHTERS WALK FOR LIFE

I was at wrexham fire station last night to witness the presentation of two cheques to the total value of£5520 that was raised by the retained fire fighters through the sponsored 10 mile walk through the town center a couple weeks ago.
congratulations to those firefighters from wrexham, llangollen, johnstown and mold fire stations who took part in this walk wearing full firefighting kit plus breathing apparatus and a special thanks to watch manager and his crew for organising the event, as a fire authority member it never ceases to amaze me the commitment of our fire fighters in our community.
the recipients of this money are the shooting star unit, the testicular cancer fund at ysbyty glan clwyd and the fire services national benevolent fund.
